    Cost of Representation:

    At Berry Redmond Gordon and Penney LLP, we believe in transparency and providing our clients with clear, upfront information about the costs of representation for Criminal and Motoring law offences.

    Legal Aid is available in certain cases. Please get in touch to discuss your eligibility.

    If you are not eligible for Legal Aid, for a guilty plea in a driving offence, our fixed fee is £600 (£720 incl. VAT). Travel costs may be additional, depending on Court location. Our fee covers a range of services, including:

    • Considering evidence.
    • Taking your instructions. If we are instructed at an early stage, we can meet with you, to take your instructions at the office or via video link prior to the hearing.
    • Providing advice on your case and likely sentence.
    • Attendance and representation at one hearing at the Magistrates' Court.

    However, it is important to note that this fee does not include any additional matters that may arise, such as:

    • Instruction of any expert witnesses
    • Taking statements from witnesses
    • Advice and assistance in relation to special reasons hearings and appeals

    Additionally, any further hearings beyond the initial one may incur an additional cost of £200 (£240 incl. VAT).

    We will be able to provide you with a clear costs assessment based on the work involved if your matter goes beyond a straightforward guilty plea, is particularly complex or listed for a trial. Each case is different and requires different levels of work, so we assess these on a case-by-case basis. These types of cases can range between £1200 (£1440 incl. VAT) to £2000 (£2400 incl. VAT).
