Merlene has a vast amount of experience in assisting clients to obtain a divorce/dissolution. Understanding the sensitive nature of resolving financial disputes, Merlene provides clear advice on strategies to help clients achieve financial settlements.
Prenuptial and postnuptial agreements
Merlene is highly experienced in drafting prenuptial and postnuptial agreements for married couples and civil partners. Whether you are enjoying planning your wedding or you are well into your marriage, these discussions can be uncomfortable. However, these agreements can help you protect your financial assets and give you a peace of mind.
Private children law
Merlene advises both fathers and mothers on disputes about child arrangements. Her practical approach will enable you to have a clear understanding of your legal options so that you can obtain the best possible outcome for your children.
Education and career history
Merlene qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive specialising in Family Law in 2023, having worked as Family Law Case Manager since 2021. She also volunteered with Support Through Court in London and Bristol during her studies.
Merlene previously worked as a self-employed County Court Advocate and appeared in over 400 cases, before over 150 judges in England & Wales. Through this, she gained significant advocacy experience and the skill to explain complicated matters of law and procedure clearly to clients.
Merlene completed her Bar Professional Training Course at BPP Law School in London. She achieved a 2:1 LLB (Hons) in Law from the University of the West of England, Bristol.

Outside of work
In her spare time, Merlene enjoys boxing. Having boxed since she was a child, Merlene is now a Level 2 England Boxing Coach for Weston-super-Mare Amateur Boxing Club and continues to compete for the club.
